User roles & permissioning

πŸ‘¨β€βš–οΈ Roles

Rally has three main roles that you can assign to users:

Observer

  • Observers have read only permissions in Rally. They can view studies, people and incentives
  • Observers can also connect their calendar to Rally

πŸ‘

The observer role is great for stakeholders (like PMs and Designers) that want be included in research and need to connect their calendar for study but are not actively conducting studies themselves

Researcher

  • Researchers have read and write permissions across Rally.
    • They can create and manage studies and peoples.
  • Researchers do not have access to modify the following Workspace configuration settings:
    • Account Settings
    • Users & Roles
    • Branding Settings
    • Domain Settings
    • Billing

Ops Manager

  • Ops Managers are the equivalent to a typical Admin role. They can perform all read and write permissions including modifying advanced workspace settings
  • Ops Managers do have access to modify the following Workspace configuration settings:
    • Account Settings
    • Branding Settings
    • Domain Settings
  • Ops Managers do not have access to modify the following Workspace configuration settings:
    • Users & Roles
    • Billing

πŸ” Additional Permission Sets

In addition to the main three roles, Rally also supports additional permission sets that can be added to any user role.

Super Admin

  • A Super Admin can only be added to a user that has the Researcher or Ops Manager role
  • A Super Admin can perform all read and write permissions including modifying all advanced workspace settings similar to an Ops Manager
  • Super Admins do have access to modify the following Workspace configuration settings:
    • Account Settings
    • Branding Settings
    • Domain Settings
    • Users & Roles
    • Billing
  • A Super Admin can also access and modify studies they are not owners of
